Royal St George’s College

Farrow Partners was engaged to create a master plan for the existing Junior and Middle School and Dining Hall at Toronto’s Royal St. George’s College, an urban day school for boys offering a challenging program of academics and extracurricular activities designed to prepare the students for placement at the university of their choice.

The redevelopment project creates student-centred spaces that support progressive learning, including a variety of flexible breakout areas for open seminar or group collaboration. A welcoming new entrance foyer will add a warm atmosphere, while also improving access to the renovated Ketchum Hall dining hall. The jewel of the junior school, the historic Ketchum Hall has been redesigned to allow natural light to flood the hall during both mealtime and also the range of related educational programs that the space will be tailored to accommodate.

The middle school was redesigned to provide a range of flexible learning spaces, including a double classroom with a serpentine stairs and flexible furniture, allowing the space to be use for a variety of learning configurations.

The multi phased envisioned master plan was executed over a five-year timeframe.
