Elmwood School, located in Ottawa’s Rockcliffe neighbourhood, is a leading independent girl’s school, housed in a historic building on a beautiful treed campus.
The master planning challenge Farrow faced was how to create a clearer front entrance and drop off; easier more direct connection to the junior school; create a new dining hall; student common; library; performance centre; wellness centre; and learning space. Equally important was to integrate the new programs with the existing building so that the two flowed together seamlessly.
Additional emphasis was added to developing a design that could be implemented in a phased approach without impacting daily operations and dovetail with fundraising and financing envelopes.
Farrow was engaged to complete work on the first phase of the project which includes the new entrance, dining hall, students common and related spaces.
