Toronto Montessori Elgin Mills Campus Expansion Submitted for Building Permit
Farrow has documents for building permit for expansion of the Toronto Montessori Elgin Mill’s senior school campus. The project includes a new dining hall, kitchen and server, classrooms, staff collaborative areas and related support areas, surrounding a new courtyard.
Internationally recognized since 1961 as Toronto Montessori Schools, TMS selected Farrow to create a Facilities Development Master Plan for their two campus locations in Richmond Hill in 2017. Farrow’s strategic design process was aligned with Montessori values that include purpose-focused inquiry, critical thinking and active, experiential learning.
The larger master plan for the Elgin Mills Senior school campus, a building of less than ten years old, needed a number of programmatic changes to advance the school’s strategic objectives based on “delivering a seamless, internationally acclaimed educational experience that inspires and challenges students to discover the best of who they are and to achieve their full potential.”
The second phase will include a new student common, theatre, collaboration space for faculty and students; new main entry; fitness centre; learning spaces and administrative support areas.
Construction will commence in June 2021.
