The Farrow designed TMS Bayview Campus building’s structure contains 111 cubic metres of wood in its structure, the equivalent embodied carbon of taking 500 cars off the road for a year.
One cubic metre of timber stores one tonne of carbon within its structure, which is absorbed when the tree grows and contained within it, when it is sustainably harvested. If the tree naturally falls and disintegrates back into the earth, the carbon is then released back into the atmosphere. One tone of carbon is the equivalent carbon produced by 4.5 cars with normal driving for a year.
