College Chair
A collaboration between Farrow Partners and Imagine Acoustics, the Blossom Chair, constructed out of felt, creates an immersive, yet enveloping, sound dampened, calm ‘nest’ for young minds, in libraries and learning environments, which otherwise, can be distracting.
It grows out of our continued interest in Environmental Enrichment, a theory define through a series of pioneering experiments - carried out initially in the 1940’s by Donald Hebb - which created the foundations of Environmental Enrichment.
Subsequent research by others proved that environmental factors alter the biochemical ambience, and neuroanatomy structure, of the brain.
When several senses are together stimulated – smell, hearing, vision, touch, and two lesser-known senses of proprioception and the vestibular system - all influenced by the environment - the impact on anxiety and stress, along with the upside - hopefulness - using multi-sensory, neuro-wellness interventions, can improve the full human experiences as a result of environmental enrichment, specifically for young minds.
