Toronto, Ontario

Located on the top floor of a vintage industrial building in the heart of Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood, this workspace benefits from a 360-degree view of the city. Recognizing that their business success depends on effective creation and application of knowledge, the designer's intent was to enhance both collaboration and concentration. The approach reflects the firm’s overall philosophy, which is to work with human nature, rather than against it. For example, movement through the space reveals natural, protected nodes for working and the display of architectural models, while breathe-able meeting areas accommodate various modes of participation. A central kitchen table invites conversation, and model-making is treated as theatre in a centre-stage location, rather than relegating it to a “back-of-house” location.
